Did you know that nearly 4 million dogs and cats are put to death in Municipal Shelters each year simply because there are not enough homes for them?   That's 10,959.00 animals killed per day!

Did you know that approximately 70% of all cats that enter a Municipal Shelter are killed and that only 30% make it out alive?

How about the fact that 25% of all dogs that enter Municipal Shelters are pure breed dogs from puppy mills and that Pit Bull Terrier type dogs have the highest rate of euthanasia?

You can help save lives by spaying or neutering your pet and by adopting a Shelter pet.  And if you are looking for a pure bred dog or cat, be sure to check your local Shelter or Rescue Group.  Chances are you'll find what your looking for!

"Look deep into the eyes of any animal, and then for a moment, trade places, their life becomes as precious as yours and you become as vulnerable as them. Now smile if you believe all animals deserve our respect and our protection, for in a way, they are us, and we are them."

FUN PASTA FUNDRAISER!  The Humane Society of East Tennessee's fundraising efforts are underway again this year and we are excited to be selling Fun Pasta! With your generous support, we will be able to purchase important items for our Shelter Pets. The funds raised this year will help us purchase and provide food, medical care and life-saving vaccines. They will also help us pay for spay and neuter services for each pet PRIOR to it being adopted, eliminating any possibility of reproducing, (which in turn reduces euthanasia rates at Municipal Shelters). Your support can help a lonely cat, homeless dog, senior pet, puppy mill puppy or puppy mill mama dog find new hope. Please help these precious babies by purchasing some Fun Pasta. 40% of your order will directly support our efforts!  So have fun shopping and thank you for your support! (There are also soups, sweets, chili's and gluten free pasta's) ORDER ANYTIME!

About us: The Humane Society of East Tennessee is a non-profit animal welfare organization dedicated to helping companion animals find good homes. We rescue dogs and cats (and other animals) from local municipal shelters that euthanize and we accept animals from the general public. EVERY animal we rescue stays with us until it is adopted and we never euthanize one animal to make room for another. Each animal we rescue is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, tested, dewormed and microchipped prior to adoption. Our adoption fees range from $75.00 - $150.00 and include the above mentioned services as well as free lifetime micro-chip registration and 30 days of Pet Shelter Care Insurance.

Our Mission Statement:
The mission and purpose of the Humane Society of East Tennessee is to promote the welfare of animals, to strengthen the human-animal bond and to further the cause of responsible animal adoption and ownership through education and public awareness.  The Society actively promotes kindness, the elimination of cruelty to and neglect of all animals, and the lifelong commitment of people to their pets.

Funding:  We receive no State, City or County Funding
The animals in our care rely on the kindness and generosity of our community for all basic needs and medical care.  So from cat litter to toys, to yummy treats and office supplies, we are always in need of things to create a home away from home for our most special of guests, the animals.  (Check out our wish list) Donations may be dropped off or mailed to the Humane Society of East Tennessee, 548 S.
